As part of Thaumasios’ expanding library of titles, we are committed to showcasing new authors and their creations. Whilst set in the “expanded” universe where Bill Jedburgh may be just round the next corner, or slipping into bed across the street, these characters inhabit their own stories and worlds. If you have a concept for a story set in similar genres, please reach out via the Contact Us page!
1967: Hong Kong is under the threat of Chairman Mao’s Red Guards rampaging across mainland China; thousands are fleeing to the British colony. The police face riots and bombs. Dozens are dying. All are living in uncertainty over the colony’s future – whether invasion by China or capitulation by Whitehall.
Sebastian Quinn is a British Special Branch interrogator, tasked with unmasking those behind the bombing campaign, known locally as The Confrontation. Beaten up and left with a limp, he struggles with colonialism, police corruption and his own faltering integrity.
Distracted by a failing marriage and an affair with a married woman, he races to unmask those behind the bombing before the colony falls.
Ben John, formerly of the Hong Kong Police and now running a small private investigation company, takes on a case of a missing schoolgirl.
Initial enquiries indicate a routine disappearance but as the team dig deeper it appears all may not be as it seems.
Very quickly Ben finds himself professionally and personally committed to one of the most challenging tasks of his career.
